Abstract摘要

Permanent magnet motors have high efficiency and high power density. They are eminently suitable for high-speed applications since their electromagnetic performance are less sensitive to airgap length which is particularly beneficial for rotor mechanical retaining and potential shaft deformation, as well as for reducing aerodynamics.This presentation will systematically describe various permanent magnet motor topologies and control strategies suitable for ultra-high-speed operation. Then, it will present design considerations in terms of electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal, and control performance for different applications.

永磁电机具有高效率和高功率密度的特点。由于其电磁性能对气隙长度较不敏感,特别有利于转子机械固定和潜在的轴变形,同时也有助于降低空气动力学影响,因此非常适合高速应用。本报告将系统性地阐述适用于超高速运行的各种永磁电机拓扑结构及控制策略,随后针对不同应用场景,从电磁、机械、热和控制性能方面提出设计考量要点。

Biography简历


Professor Z.Q. Zhu is currently Chair Professor of Electrical Machines and Control Systems at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China, after 38 years at the University of Sheffield, UK, where from 2008 to 2025, he was Head of Electrical Machines and Drives Research Group, a world leading research group in its field, particularly well-known for its research and development on permanent magnet machines and control systems.

Professor Zhu’s research interests include design and control of novel permanent magnet machines and drives for applications ranging from electrified transportations (electric vehicles, fast trains, and electric aircrafts) through wind power generation to domestic appliances, industrial drives, robots, automation components and systems etc., which have been commercially exploited extensively by many global leading industries.

Professor Zhu is a Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK; National Academy of Inventors, USA; IEEE; IET; CSEE; CES, and the Editor-in-Chief of IET EPA. He is the recipient of the 2024 Global Energy Prize, the 2021 IEEE Nikola Tesla Technical Field Award, and the 2019 IEEE Industry Application Society Outstanding Achievement Award. He authored/co-authored >650 IEEE and IET journal papers, which are widely cited with Google citations of >65,000 and h-Index of 129.

诸自强教授现任香港理工大学电机与控制系统讲席教授。此前,他在英国谢菲尔德大学任职38年,2008年至2025年担任该校电机与驱动研究团队负责人,该团队是电机领域国际顶尖团队,尤其在永磁电机及其系统的研发领域享有盛誉。

诸自强教授的研究方向涵盖新型永磁电机及其驱动系统的设计与控制,应用领域包括电气化交通(电动汽车、高铁、电动飞机)、风力发电、家用电器、工业驱动、机器人以及自动化器件与系统等,相关研究成果已被多家国际顶尖企业商业化应用。

诸自强教授是英国皇家工程院院士、美国国家发明家科学院院士、IEEE FellowIET Fellow、中国电机工程学会与中国电工技术学会会士,同时担任IET EPA主编。他先后获得2024年全球能源奖,2021IEEE尼古拉·特斯拉技术领域奖和2019IEEE工业应用学会杰出成就奖等。迄今,他发表学术论文1600余篇,其中IEEE TransactionsIET Proceedings期刊论文650余篇,谷歌学术引用量超65000次,h指数129
