报告人简介:

Sergey Maksimenko receivedthe M.S. degree in physics of heat and mass transfer and Ph.D. degree intheoretical physics from Belarusian State University (BSU), Minsk, Belarus, in1976 and 1988, respectively, and the Doctor of Science degree in theoreticalphysics from the Institute of Physics, Belarus National Academy of Science,Minsk, in 1996. Since 1992, he was the Head of the Laboratory ofElectrodynamics of Nonhomogeneous Media, Research Institute for NuclearProblems, BSU, and is currently the Director. He also teaches at the BSUPhysical Department.

His current researchinterests include electromagnetic wave theory and electromagnetic processes inquasi-1-D and 0-D nanostructures in condensed matter and nanocomposites with afocus on nanocarbon; fundamental and applied nanoelectromagnetics andnanotechnology with focus on nanocarbon-based radiation protective andshielding materials. He has authored or coauthored more than 180 papers ininternational journals and conference proceedings, and book chapters.

He is an Associate Editorof the Journal of Nanophotonics. Prof. Maksimenko is an SPIE Fellow and theCo-chair of several international conferences. Dr. Maksimenko co-chairedconferences “Nanotubes and nanowires,” “Nanomodelling” and “Nanomodelling II” as parts of SPIE’s 48th and 49th AnnualMeetings, and SPIE’s Optics & Photonics, in 2003,2004, and 2006, respectively. He is the Chair of the International conference “Fundamental and Applied Nanoelectromagnetics,” Minsk, May 2012. He was a coordinator of EU FP7 project FP7-226529BYNANOERA and currently is a Leader of the Belarus team in the GRAPHENEFLAGSHIP project FP7-604391.
